Hi this is Kees this is my doodle of my self if you want to know how I did it here are the steps first create a google drawing in google drive tack a image of your self click the the line and change it to curve and use curve to trace the image your face one part at a time until you only have your neck and shoulders to go do your neck and shoulders separate delete the image and you should have a copy of your self . hope you enjoy copying your self !!!       

Learning about Screencastify, linking and inserting videos!

At the start of the year we always have students that come into our learning space who have never used a Chromebook before. It's really important that students that have worked with Chromebooks before teach, help, support and guide the new people in learning about their Chromebooks. 

Yesterday, we were learning about Screencastify and how to link our Screencastify and insert it into a google slide! Ruru students were buddied up with people that had already been in Ruru for a year (previously we were Toroa) with people that are new to Ruru. 

Buddies had to come up with a handshake .. some had the challenge of getting their handshake to be at least 30 seconds long. 

We started off by watching the Justin Bieber and Jimmy Fallon handshake.. Mr Williams said that this was a really good example and he wasn't wrong!

Then we had to go away and make up our own handshake. Once we had mastered it, we had to show a teacher and they would tell us if we were ready to video ourselves or not. 

Next, the 'new' Ruru student had to get their chromebook and set it all up with the help of the 'old' Ruru student. The 'old' Ruru student wasn't allowed to touch the Chromebook, they just had to support the 'new' Ruru student to be able to navigate their way to Screencastify. 

Once we had filmed ourselves, we had to insert the link AND the video into a google slide with our names! We haven't all finished yet, but take a look at some of our examples!

Ruru's learning with Miss Morgan

Ruru is lucky enough to have Miss Morgan come into our classroom and work with us every Friday morning.

We have learnt so many new things with her.

The first week we learnt how to sign in and out of our Chromebooks, carry our Chromebooks with care, know where and how to put our devices and what Hapara is.


The week after, we learnt how to access "my drive" and create a doc in the correct folder. We also made our "All About Me" documents, so Miss Morgan could learn about us, and what we like. These are a couple of our "All About Me" documents for you to read too.

Our third week, we learnt how to use short cuts to be more efficient on our devices. We are super fast at this now.

Our last lessons we learnt about having permission for photos on Google Slides and Google Drawings. It was really fun. We can't wait to see Miss Morgan on Friday to learn even more!

Ruru Rockstar!

This week we introduced Ruru Rockstar to our classroom!
Ruru Rockstars are kind of like Dude of the day.. they get to sit on a special seat ALL DAY and they are the go to person for any jobs that reliable people get to do! Also.. each morning the class thinks of some of the awesome things about the Rockstar.
